What Your First Session Actually Looks Like

The nervous bit is the not-knowing. So here's exactly what happens — minute by minute, no surprises.

Most people don't put off starting because they're lazy. They put it off because walking into a gym you don't know, to do things you've never done, in front of people who look like they know what they're doing, is genuinely uncomfortable. Fair enough.

The fix isn't a pep talk — it's information. So here's precisely what your first session looks like. Once you know, it stops being scary.

1. Before you arrive

Wear: comfy clothes + trainers Bring: a water bottle Turn up: 5 minutes early

That's the entire kit list. Nothing to buy, nothing to prepare. Come as you are.

2. Minute by minute

3. What "scaling" actually means

The thing nobody explains — and the reason anyone can start.

Every workout is adjustable. Can't do a pull-up? You use a band, or a row. Can't run? You row or bike. The workout on the board is the recipe; the coach adjusts the ingredients to you. It's why a total first-timer and a serious athlete can do the same session side by side — and both get a brilliant workout.

4. The stuff you're quietly worried about

I'll be the unfittest one there.
Everyone was new once — including the fittest person in the room. And nobody's watching you; they're busy with their own session.
I won't be able to do it.
You'll do a version of it — that's the entire point of coaching. You don't need to be ready. You need a coach.
I'll get judged.
The opposite. New people get the most encouragement in the room — it's the best part of the job.

5. Getting started is the hardest part

The workout is never the hard bit. Walking through the door the first time is. So we've made that easy — two ways in, pick whichever fits:

A 1:1 session

One coach, just you. The fastest way to get confident with the basics before you ever step into a class.

A taster session

Come and try a class to see if it's the right fit — before you commit to anything.

The 10-session challenge

Give it ten. That's the deal.

The most honest thing in this guide — and a promise.

Session 1 · the hard partSession 10 · confident

Make it to ten and I promise you'll walk in with confidence. That's the reward for sticking with it — not a six-pack, not a PB. Confidence. That's the gold.

So don't commit to a lifetime. Commit to ten sessions — we'll get you there. Not sure where to start? Send us a message and we'll sort the right first step.
