My sporting background is in competitive swimming, which I have done since a young age. This naturally progressed into swim teaching and coaching. Also gaining my Personal trainer level 3 at this time taking classes and Personal training sessions. Having been born and bred in Kernow I’ve always enjoyed the great outdoors, walking the coast path and moors, my passion for trekking grew while traveling, trekking extensively in New Zealand and South America. When in New Zealand I had my first Taste of CrossFit at CrossFit 3216, this soon became consistently dropping in as often as possible. After returning from travelling, I returned to swimming more consistently and adopted CrossFit styled training into my gym sessions. Once CrossFit Bodmin opened in February 2019, I was in the first ever class and jumped through the door to return to training CrossFit properly.
With health issues and being told you can’t or won’t be able to do what you want to do, giving up on sport and some of the things I enjoyed doing felt like the only choice. However, with sport, training, and nutrition this has actually helped me manage and even ease symptoms, although this has taken me some time to find a balance that suits me personally and is something I’m continuing to refine.
I am always striving to be better/ faster at skills and lifts continuing to improve my ability, form, and knowledge. My main motivation lies within training to be fit for life and longevity. Enjoying what I do in the gym but also what this fitness allows me to do outside the gym.
